In my opinion, this quote is true. When your relatives are at home, you have to make up for their bad points and show them how much they mean to you. When they're away and you're by yourself, of course it's easy to think of their bad points and that will make things harder on you. You don't need friends or relatives to remind you about the good things they did, only yourself.
